[APP] Fibaro - Your home is your castle (by Athom)

Hi,

I have a question about using the Roller Shutter 2 (<2.4). The Roller Shutter works perfectly with my shutters. I have two of these Roller Shutters both with a version number 2.2. When using the up and down buttons the shutter will open and close. No problem there. If I use the slider to 50%, no problem there either. Set it to 0% (fully closed), still no problem. Set it to 100% (fully open) nothing happens, only when I slide it to 99% it will open again. It seems like setting the slider to 100% doesnā€™t send a message to the Fibaro shutter or the Fibaro shutter just discards the command. Does anyone has or had the problem and maybe someone has a solution?

Is fibaro BiDi Z-Wave supported? it is an implant for gate opener.

Hi @Bram, all,

I recently installed a Fibaro Walli Switch 2 in my house. The intention is for it to work as a 2way switch (wisselschakelaar).
Before adding to the zwave network I made sure the device was set in Single Switch mode. I confirmed this as well after adding to the network.
Now, when I push the switch button, my lights flip on for a second and then go out again. I noticed in the manual I should set parameter 20 to value 3 https://manuals.fibaro.com/walli-switch/#post-13335

I tried to do this by going to Advanced Settings and setting Raw Configuration Parameters to 20,1,3
This however has no noticeable effect :frowning: Iā€™m uncertain whether this is the appropriate way to set parameter 20, and whether this is the correct size (manual says the size is 1B; should I write 20,1B,3?)
Can someone please direct me further? Many thanks!

Hi Pieter,
some questions:
ā€” do you use one or two Walli Switch?
ā€” what do you mean with ā€žI confirmed this as well after adding to the network.ā€œ? I also have Walli Switch in use but I do not remember having to confirm anything.

Thatā€™s correct. 1B means 1 Byte afaik.
ā€” After setting the Raw configuration, did you confirm the change with the check mark in the upper right corner?

No u shouldnā€™t!

  • on that circuit I use 1 walli switch, and two comventional oldschool switches. The walli takes the position of one of the outer 2way switches (in dutch the wisselschakelaar, not the kruisschakelaar)

  • i was just doubting whether it was properly registered as single switch mode, so I confirmed it after I added it in zwave network. 3 quick presses, hold+press until white light and then clicked again. Gave appropriate response of single white flash for single switch mode.

  • I did confirm the raw configuration change with the checkmark. Perhaps it takes a while to adjust?

I also forgot to mention: Iā€™m using the latest (experimental) Fibaro app and HomeyV5ā€¦ Perhaps this is part of the issue?

If you are not sure if the single switch mode was configured correctly before inclusion, then I would exclude the walli switch again, make sure that the single switch mode is set and then include it again.

Otherwise I see no mistake.

I canā€™t say if the problem is caused by the Homey FW 5.x and/or the Fibaro App. I donā€™t have 2 or 3 multiway configuration.

Did you restarted the Fibaro App and Homey? Or better PTP (Pull the Plug) for at least 15 minutes.

So I reconfirmed my installation. I am positive/certain that the switch is in single mode before I connected it to the Z network.

Now I played a bit with the raw configuration parameters: in single switch mode, the command 20,1,1 is the default (the switches both toggle both loads simultaneously). I then tested the command 20,1,2 which correctly changes the switch so that pushing button1 switches the loads on, and button2 switches the loads off.
Now, the command 20,1,3 SHOULD make it operate is a 2-way/3-way switch (i.e. at all times 1 of the two loads should carry power, pressing the button switches the load). However, this command is handled exactly as the coand 20,1,2. I.e. both loads are powered or none are powered.

Could someone confirm that the command ā€œ20,1,3ā€ is the correct command I should send for a 2way switch? Has anyone tested this before?

@DirkG Ok, so I think I just figured out a potential issue:
I have here two manuals:
a) https://manuals.fibaro.com/walli-switch/
b) https://manuals.fibaro.com/content/manuals/en/FGWDSEU-221/FGWDSEU-221-T-EN-v1.0.pdf
Both for the same product as I have (FGWDSEU-221)

Manual a mentions, at parameter 20, the option for 2 way switching. Manual b does notā€¦ Is there perhaps a newer and older version of this device, usefully labelled with the exact same serial number and product name?
Or does the device need to be updated? I donā€™t have a fibaro homecenter however (and not really willing to buy one, as I have a homey to fulfil my needs)

Alternatively, I also noted that this product FGWDSEU-221 is not mentioned on the Athom Fibaro github page https://github.com/athombv/com.fibaro. Perhaps itā€™s a simple case of this device being incorrectly recognised by the app? Could someone check whether itā€™s supported, and whether it contains 3 options for parameter 20 in single switch mode? @RalfVanDooren @Caseda @TedTolboom @Priknr1
Many thanks, I feel weā€™re getting closer to a fix/answer.

First of all, I would like to say that I am not a Z-Wave or SmartHome expert. The other mentioned people have much more experience and knowledge.

The two different manuals are for different firmware versions of the Walli Switch, FW 5.0-5.1 and FW 5.2 and higher. But this could be the point. Please go into the advanced device settings or in Developer and find out which FW do you have, it should be 5.2.
If necessary i could update your Walli Switch because I have a Fibaro HC2, but probably shipping is too expensive, i live in Germany.

Ah, that determines it thenā€¦ The switch currently installed is FW 5.1.1.
Fortunately I have another switch with FW 5.2.1. Iā€™ll swap them and see how it turns out  (as the other one currently installed is a normal double switch, so nothing fancy)

Would really be useful if FW upgrades were possible without homecenters as wellā€¦ But I guess thatā€™s Fibaro protecting its intellectual property or somethingā€¦
Will get back to let you know how it turns out.

EDIT: the switching did it. So it was a firmware issue. Many thanks to @fantross for helping me figure this out!

It is now, but you will found it under Nice app :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi, Iā€™m relatively new to Homey / Fibaro.
Iā€™ve installed the Fibaro Dimmer 2 with two dimmable LED lights.
The total load of the two LED lights is 20W, so Iā€™ve added the Fibaro Bypass as well.
The Fibaro Dimmer 2 is installed with the 3 wire setup.

Problem now is that the 2 LED lights wonā€™t dim. Iā€™ve performed multiple re-calibrations, both with and without the Fibaro Bypass, but that didnā€™t help. I still wasnā€™t able to dim.

Therefore, I replaced the 2 LED lights with one incandescent light bulb of 100W, just to check if the problem is the Fibaro Dimmer 2. After a re-calibration, the light bulb of 100W was able to dim.
Without changing the configuration in the Homey/Fibaro-app, I replaced the 100W light bulb with the two LED lights. I performed no re-calibration. Now I can dim the two LED lights, without any flickering and to a very low power level (5W according to the Homey/Fibaro-app).

This means that the Fibaro Dimmer 2 doesnā€™t detect the two LED lights correctly.
If Iā€™m correct, it is possible to overrule the parameters determined during auto-calibration.
However, those option parameters are not present in the Homey/Fibaro app.

Iā€™m looking for the following parameters:

Any idea how to change those parameters in the Homey/Fibaro-app?

With raw configuration.

There are several ways to do this:

  • Developer ā†’ Tools ā†’ Z-Wave (with the long code as described in the linked post)
  • Advanced settings of the Dimmer 2 ā†’ Raw Configuration
  • Flow, in the ā€œThenā€¦ā€ section ā†’ add card ā€œSystem/Z-Waveā€ ā†’ Send unprocessed command (or similar)

Afaik, itā€™s not possible to change parameter via raw configuration if the device is secured included.

Hi fantross,

With regards to your last sentence, does that mean that I cannot change parameters using raw configuratie, as the Dimmer 2 already is included into Homey?

No, the Dimmer 2 has to be already included but unsecure included.

If the device is secure included it doesnā€™t work. Then you have to exclude the device and include it again in unsecure mode.

Hello,

I recently noticed that my Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 does not return status when I operate it with the connected switch. Example: I close the shutter with the connected switch instead of the app, but the shutter is displayed as open.

Previously it always worked, what can be there?

If i switch parameter 3 to Z-Wave Report Protocoll it reports correctly, there must be a bug in testversion 3.04?

Greetings

Philipp

Is there any way to change the icon for Fibaro relays to icons for the devices they control, e.g. lights, fans, etc. rather than these rather unhelpful pictures:

No its not possible. You can create virtual device with custom icon and link it to Fibaro device (quite a work if you have many devices) or you can use emojis in label. Emojis have one benefit, they will sort same type of devices together if emojis used at the beggining of label.
